“I touch the future, I teach" ~ Christa McAuliffe
Take a minute today and pause to reflect on the Challenger launch 25 years ago. The first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe, who taught at Concord High School, was on board with 6 other astronauts. Christa’s dream, to teach science experiments from space that would inspire students to study science and math, ended that morning.
In her honor, the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, has its home on our campus. The Center brings students and teachers together to learn about astronomy, aviation, earth and space. There is a planetarium and observatory plus teacher education programs and school visits. Library patrons can check out a pass at the circulation desk that provides admission to the planetarium’s exhibits. Please contact the circulation desk at 271-7186 for details.
